Service Manager – Supported Accommodation (16+)

📍 Location: Across multiple supported and semi-independent homes (Croydon)
💷 Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum
🕒 Hours: 40 hours per week (flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and emergencies)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to oversee supported accommodation and semi-independent homes for young people aged 16 and above. This is a rewarding leadership position for someone passionate about empowering care-experienced young people to build independence, resilience, and brighter futures.

The successful candidate will manage daily operations across designated homes, ensuring that all services are safe, compliant, and person-centred. You’ll lead and develop staff teams, uphold safeguarding standards, and ensure young people’s voices remain central in shaping their support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of supported accommodation and semi-independent homes.

  • Line-manage Deputy Managers and Team Leaders, providing supervision, appraisals, and development.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and safeguarding frameworks.

  • Maintain Ofsted inspection readiness and high-quality standards across services.

  • Support young people through effective support planning and keyworking.

  • Foster relationships with external professionals, commissioners, and community partners.

  • Promote education, training, and employment pathways for young people.

  • Lead during crises, ensuring safety and effective response at all times.

  • Monitor budgets, resources, and performance indicators to maintain service excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ management or supervisory experience in supported accommodation or similar settings.

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and commitment to achieve Level 5 Leadership & Management.

  • Strong understanding of Supported Accommodation Regulations (England) 2023 and Working Together 2023.

  • Experience in safeguarding, staff supervision, risk assessments, and support planning.

  • Excellent communication, IT, and organisational skills.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and handle emergencies as required.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing multiple homes or services.

  • Familiarity with Ofsted inspection frameworks.

  • Experience supporting high-risk or complex young people.
