This position involves assessing and preparing expert reports, offering professional opinions on psychiatric matters in a legal context, and collaborating with solicitors, insurers, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed psychiatric evaluations for medico-legal cases.

  • Prepare high-quality, evidence-based expert reports.

  • Provide expert testimony when required.

  • Liaise with legal professionals and other parties to ensure clear and effective communication.

  • Stay updated on legal guidelines and mental health legislation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice as a Consultant Psychiatrist.

  • Extensive experience in clinical psychiatry (forensic experience is advantageous).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Familiarity with the medico-legal reporting process and legal frameworks is desirable but not essential (training can be provided).

  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
