Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Temporary Residential Care Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our children's home, catering to the needs of children aged 10 to 15 years old. The successful candidate will ensure that the home meets all relevant legislative and contractual requirements while providing a nurturing and supportive environment for the children in our care.

Responsibilities:

Manage the residential home's daily operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and Ofsted inspection framework.

Oversee the care and well-being of children with diverse needs, including mainstream SEN, multi-sensory, and complex needs.

Lead and manage a team of care staff, providing regular supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.

Collaborate effectively with multi-agency teams to ensure the best outcomes for the children in our care.

Develop and implement strategies for managing complex behaviours, promoting a positive and supportive environment.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each child in line with management policies and Ofsted regulations.

Review and discuss placement plans, ensuring that each child's individual needs are met.

Advise and implement changes in legislation relating to occupancy to ensure that any enhanced requirements are met.

Manage the home's finances in line with budgets, ensuring the efficient use of resources.

Oversee and critique policies and procedures in line with current regulations, making updates as necessary.

Ensure that all staff are trained in safeguarding and are aware of their responsibilities, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.

Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports, including incident reports, progress reports, and other documentation as required, maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Identify areas for improvement within the home and implement strategies to enhance the quality of care provided, staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, best practices, and research.

Encourage a culture of continuous learning and development among staff.

 

Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role managing a residential children's home.

Level 5 or above management qualification or higher qualification in social care.

Experience managing mainstream SEN children and awareness of multi-sensory and complex needs.

Prior experience undergoing Ofsted inspections and a thorough understanding of the inspection framework.

Proven leadership skills and experience managing a team in a residential care setting.Experience working with multi-agency teams.

Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in residential care for children.

Proficient in using computer systems and software relevant to the role, such as office software, care management systems, and databases.

Ability to learn and adapt to new technology as needed.
