Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities) LDGCS is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Deputy Manager.

Main purpose of the role:

The Role

This will be a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to take the next step in their career in LDG or for someone with a management background who is looking to gain further experience in residential care

You will be supporting the overseeing of the semi-independent service, residential home, as well as outreach community care, you will be responsible for the safeguarding of youngsters within the service whilst adhering to current policies and procedures.

To fulfil this role, you must have a good understanding of working with vulnerable people. Some experience of working with people with trauma would be beneficial and experience in leading a team is essential.

The successful candidate will have an NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent qualification or in the process of gaining an accreditation. Key responsibilities will include assisting the manager in the development of the service and overseeing the day to day running of the homes in their absence, supporting staff to develop their skills and knowledge in health and social care and assisting the manager in reviewing systems and processes to ensure compliance.

Experience of working with Outlook and the Microsoft Office software is essential for the administrative aspect of this role.

You will also be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 Ensure that the staff team provide care and support to the residents that meet current best practice

 Manage and monitor residents access to support networks and resources, and the completion of reports to the Local Authority

 Promote equality as an integral part of the role, treating everyone with fairness and dignity.

 Provide support in recruitment of staff as necessary

 Ensure that staff rotas are managed effectively.

 Comply with LDG policies and procedures i.e., safeguarding, health and safety policies

 Adhere to the standards set out in the Care Standards framework.

 Undertake delegated areas of responsibility for the day-to-day management of the

residential home in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

 Work collaboratively with the Operations Director/Responsible Individual, Manager and

Senior Team.

 Ensure that residents are regularly consulted and that the care and support provided meets

their needs.

 Manage the shift when on duty and to ensure all staff are effectively deployed within the

business.

 Provide regular supervision, evidencing competency and support to a number of Support

and Engagement Officers to ensure these staff receive an effective annual appraisal

 Ensure all staff receive mandatory and other appropriate training that reflects the needs

identified in the personal development plan in the appraisal.

 Assist the Operations Director/Responsible Individual and Registered Manager to use all

resources effectively – including effective management of the budget.

 Authorise and sign off timesheets and agency invoicing for the finance team, if required.

 Carry out investigation duties and guide, advise and support team members through the

various processes: capability, disciplinary and sickness.

 Support new team members through the induction process.

 Implement quality systems based on continual improvement in consultation with staff and

residents.

 Act as the lead for specific areas across LDG as agreed with the Managers and Operations

Director/Responsible Individual

 Provide cover for Assistant Unit Managers in the homes when required

 Participate in regular audits of the LDG homes as agreed with the Operation’s Director and

Managers

 Take part in any other activities, duties or projects as agreed to support the business

Essential qualifications, skills and experience Essential:

 GCSE Grade in English, Math’s and ICT or equivalent

 Care Certificate, NVQ 3 in Social Care or equivalent

 Willingness to undertake NVQ Level 5 qualification

Experience

 Substantial experience working with vulnerable people in a similar environment

 Experience of leading and managing a team

 Experience of working in a demanding role requiring an ability to problem solve

 Experience of working in challenging situations

 Experience of putting legislation/policies into practice

 Basic finance and budgetary skills

 Experience of working with people with trauma and or those undertaking a rehabilitation

programmes

 At least 3 years’ supervisory experience in care, preferable working with young people

 Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team

Knowledge and understanding

 Sound knowledge of safeguarding young people processes (policies & procedures)

 Sound knowledge of working within regulations i.e., CQC or Ofsted

 Knowledge of the legislative framework for Health & Social Care including the Deprivation of

Liberty safeguards (DOLS)
